Having a pet can really bring all the members of a family together. But while dogs and cats can require a lot of time, attention, space, and money, there are smaller animals that may be easier to keep. Birds can make a great family pet for busy families that want to keep an animal but don’t have the resources for something bigger.

Birds can be kept in cages, which include their food and water dishes, toys, and nesting areas. Depending on what kind of bird you get, the cage can be small enough to hang from the ceiling, or may be large enough that it needs to stand up in a section of a room. The cage does need to be cleaned out on a regular basis, especially during molting season or if you have multiple birds living together. This can be a good way to teach children about responsibility.

Some bird species are more aggressive than others, and should not be handled by small children. But there are many species that are tame to the hand and docile enough that even little kids can pet them and hold them. It is important that you research the species of bird you are interested in before buying it so you get the right fit for your family.

Providing food is often much cheaper with birds than it is with dogs or cats, as they eat less on a daily basis and bags of food will last longer. It can be harder to find veterinary care when they are sick, however, as birds may be considered exotic animals by some clinics. This is another thing to take into consideration when considering buying one for your family.

There are many ways that you can preserve forests for birds in nature. Nature and the forests are their homes, and this is how they live and eat to survive. Without woods and trees or nature a bird cannot live, mate or be healthy. Some things that you can do make sure that the forest is a safe place for these creatures is:

-Avoid leaving trash around the forest. Birds can get stuck in cans, can rings, plastic bags and more.
-Watch for tree’s that have birds nest and don’t cut them down or disturb them. Is this new to you? Catch up here If you disturb the nest or the eggs this could greatly alter the birds life.
-Put out all fires and don’t throw cigarette butts into the woods. Preventing forest fires is one of the best ways you can preserve the forest and birds.
-Add feeders to the natural surroundings to give them food in the winter and throughout the year. This can be the means of survival for some birds during weather changes and droughts.
-Support funding for conservatory’s and forests where birds live and mate. This is one of the best ways to continue the mating and populations of birds in your area.

Variety is the spice of life. You’ve heard the saying often, but you might never have thought about how it could apply to the birds in your backyard. You probably have lots of sparrows, starlings, and black birds flitting around the neighborhood, but wouldn’t you like to spice up your environment with an occasional flash of yellow from a goldfinch or a close-up view of a blue jay’s crest? Would you like to wake up to the cooing of a mourning dove or the cheery call of a robin? With a little research, the right birdseed, and an appropriate feeder, you can attract a cacophony of color and sound to your backyard environment.

You can delight in the red throats, gold wings, and blue breasts of the many varieties of finches by using a tube feeder or sock feeder filled with small grains and thistle seed. Blue jays and doves like larger platform feeders filled with grain and seeds. Or imagine being able to watch the amazing colors and antics of the tiniest jewels of the bird kingdom sipping nectar from your hummingbird feeder.

When you help out your avian friends, you get an immeasurable gift of beauty and sound in return. What colors, sounds, and friends would you like to see when you look out your windows? There’s a feeder for that.

Birds are beautiful, complex animals with great diversity. They add splashes of color to forests and enliven the world with their songs. Birds serve many crucial functions in nature such as helping to maintain balance of ecosystems. Seed dissemination is one of the major ways in which birds serve nature. They carry seeds and disperse them about, helping many types of plants continue to thrive.
Birds also serve an important role in the ecosystem as both predator and prey. Their diet is varied and can include insects, amphibians, and mammals. Birds make sure that the population of these creatures stays at an acceptable level. If birds were not around to keep these populations steady, the ecosystem could become overwhelmed and problems would arise. Birds are also an important source of food for a variety of animals. If birds were to become extinct, many animals would suffer because a large part of their food source would be gone.
Birds are integral to the proper functioning of nature. Nature will always need them, and the loss of birds would cause a huge negative impact on ecosystems everywhere. We need to protect birds and their habitats for nature’s sake and our sake, too.
